Week Ten: Noodles
Noodles you say? No, not the noodles you boil, but the spindly limbs attached to my body. My legs especially! Unfortunately, there’s a reason for my legs: that damn leg ulcer. Whenever I try a squat, it pulls on the ulcer, and can become painful. Whoop. Even using resistance bands around my ankles can hurt, as it’s all connected.
But! I’m on the mend! I promise.
I still haven’t fully got into a routine as such. Cardio has been lacking somewhat, and I’m still trying to fit it in. My go-to cardio has always been jogging on the spot interspersed with high knees (or sprinting on the spot), plus a little shadow boxing. I have several DVDs, best of which is the Joe Wicks DVD (his first), and I seriously need to get into the habit of these as well. My little collection also includes a couple of Tae Bo DVDs that I haven’t touched yet.
There’s also a million and one routines, workouts, and instructional videos on YouTube, some of which are informative, some of which are hilarious, and others neither. Three of the best that I’ve come across are Athlean-X, Buff Dudes, and the aforementioned Joe Wicks. All three I watch religiously (much to my wife’s bemusement), and have helped me immensely especially with the science.
So, weigh-in this week was another success!
I’m down to 139.4kg!!! Sounds great until you put it into stones and pounds! 307lbs !!! Or 21st 13lbs. Not bad, considering I was nearing 24 stone when I started this journey.
Oh, and I’m still no closer to being able to do a single burpee.
Just thought you should know.
And yes, my damn arms and legs are still like noodles…
DID YOU KNOW?
Joe Wicks (AKA The Bodycoach) was originally a qualified personal trainer, and decided to start posting some of his quick and easy ideas on Instagram. He eventually gained 30 million followers and developed the books and 90-day system off of that, and is now international!!!
Here’s hoping, eh?
